If it is to stand alone, secure the stone wall with concrete, steel bars, concrete bars, or wire. If it is to lean against a mound of earth, make sure there is no way it can fall over. In general, we recommend going the safe route and adding additional support through steel, concrete, or wire to an earth-bound stack stone retaining wall.
